LOCATION: South Central Minnesota, U.S.A., conveniently located on I-35 and US 14. 60 miles south of Minneapolis-St. Paul, 40 miles west of Rochester, and 40 miles east of Mankato. Central Time Zone

 

POPULATION: 23,000 and growing.

 

RETAIL: Has more than 500 retail, wholesale, and professional firms. Has fine dining and shopping facilities.

 

MEDICAL: New Hospital 2009 and clinic affiliated with the world’s famous health center, Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Over 70 professionals providing health care services.

 

TRANSPORTATION: Owatonna Airport – 5,500 foot runway, ILS< VOR/DME. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport – 60 miles away from Owatonna by Interstate Highway. Bus: interstate bus line and 13 truck lines. Railroad: receives freight on two railroad lines.

 

EDUCATION: Owatonna Public Schools – Enrollment of approx. 5,400 students. Four elementary schools, one intermediate, one junior high and one high school. St. Mary’s School – Pre-kindergarten through eighth grade – private Catholic school. Owatonna Christian School – Kindergarten through 12th grade sponsored by Grace Baptist Church. El Shaddai – private school sponsored by Christian Family Church. Post Secondary Pillsbury Baptist Bible College – professional college offering two and four-year programs in Bible studies. Riverland Community Technical College – up to 2 year programs in the trades and general education. Universities: Extension courses available from Mankato State University, St. Thomas University, Winona State University, and Marshal SW State University. Has many churches serving most faiths.

 

GOVERNMENT: Governed by Mayor – Council system with a City Administrator – City Bond rating – Moody’s / Fire Insurance Rating – 5

 

INDUSTRIAL: Ranks 10th among Minnesota’s top industrial cities in industrial payroll, however Owatonna is ranked 30th in population. City owned Industrial Park sites available for sale. Have over 40 diversified industrial firms, several with international distribution. Owatonna Economic Development Authority has incentives available.

 

UTILITIES: Owns its own Owatonna Public Utility Plant distributing electricity, natural gas and furnishing water.
